But, you don’t have to starve yourself and neither do you need to ban solid foods entirely when you’re on a detox diet–it is completely possible to cleanse out your body and still eat real food.

    Choose Natural

    Go for fresh, whole foods and don’t eat anything with preservatives, additives, or chemical pesticides to give your system a well-deserved break. Steer clear of processed foods as they lack the nutrients you need.

    Focus on eating antioxidant-rich veggies and fruits, such as cranberries, spinach, and kale. These activate certain enzymes responsible for knocking out harmful toxins, so your body can easily eradicate them.

    Drink More Water

    To effectively flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated while on a detox program, make it a point to drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. Drinking warm water with juice from half a lemon before breakfast is also a good practice as it wakes up your body, promotes digestion, and re-hydrates your system.

    Cut Out the Sugar

    Part of a good detox diet plan is cutting the intake of sugar, including artificial sweeteners, molasses, and honey. When you decrease your sugar consumption, you avoid the risk of fatigue and straining your pancreas, which, in the long run, can prevent weight gain, diabetes, and cancer.

    Apart from packing antioxidants, tea (especially the herbal kinds) can fill you up and hydrate the body just as much as water. Plus, in comparison to the caffeine in coffee, the caffeine in tea is gentler on the system and won’t give you the jitters, so it’s a great pick-me-upper.

    Nothing is more detoxifying than sweating it out. Similar to an exercise, going into a sauna can help flush wastes and toxins out of the body through perspiration.

    Exfoliate

    One of the most common advantages of a detox diet is a glowing skin. To make yours even healthier, try exfoliating your skin through oil massages, dry-brushing, or detox foot baths.

    Eat Cottage Cheese

    Besides organic produce, cottage cheese, along with probiotic drinks and yoghurt, is an essential source of nutrients. Not only does these play a part in enhancing immunity, they also aid in digestion by repopulating the bowel with good bacteria.

    Get Moving

    Exercise is a daily requirement when detoxifying as it encourages proper blood and lymph fluid circulation, enhancing your digestion, lubricating the joints, reducing tension, and strengthening the body. High-energy workouts are good options, but low-level exercises like yoga, Pilates, or simply walking can give you a more restorative and calming effect.
